BONNIE AARONS TALKS JAKOB’S WIFE.

BONNIE AARONS.

Bonnie Aarons. You may know Bonnie from The Nun,  Muholland Drive, and The Princess Diaries the most, but she has currently portrayed THE MASTER in JAKOB’S WIFE. Also starring BARBARA CRAMPTON, who had her in mind for the character from the very start. Very seldom in the entertainment business do you strike a chord with a certain director or person enough to not have to audition for the part. Sometimes, it’s all about luck and where you are currently in your career.

With a tale similar to SANTA CLARITA DIET and special effects a lot like THE LOST BOYS.

LORETTE: WHERE ARE YOU FROM? YOU HAVE A VERY UNIQUE LOOK.

BONNIE AARONS: Ooh. Thank you. Well, um. I’m from all over. I don’t know, I mean I moved here from the East Coa–well actually, I moved here from Chicago. No–I moved here from New York. Wait a minute! I moved here–I moved here from New York, I think I came here in 1990.

THE EXPERIENCE

LORETTE: WHAT WAS IT LIKE SHOOTING THIS MOVIE?

BONNIE: It was fun. It was very fun. Um, it was–it was uh, everybody has so much passion for this project. Everyone! And we had a really, really good time filming it.

LORETTE: WHERE DID YOU SHOOT?

LORETTE: OOH, I’VE NEVER BEEN THERE. WHAT’S THAT–WHAT’S IT LIKE THERE?

BONNIE: Well it’s very old. Old world. Old town. And they had rented all of these big houses, all of these mansions. We stayed in mansions.

My hours were all at night. I came in to do it, you know when I get-you know, it was the morning, during–the producers would be taping up garbage bags over the windows. So it was like I was really living the vampire.

LORETTE: WHAT WAS THE AUDITION PROCESS LIKE?

BONNIE: I didn’t. Barbara. Barbara called me up, and she told me from the moment I saw you, met you years ago. I met her at a convention after the uh, The Conjuring 2.

Several years ago. And uh, she had said when she had seen me she was like–that’s it. This–she had been working on getting this movie, this movie together for a long time. And she said as soon as she saw me, she knew I had to be the master.

Don’t you love her?!

LORETTE: SO WHAT WAS IT LIKE TO WORK WITH BARBARA CRAMPTON?

BONNIE: It was, it was a joy. A joy.

THE STORY

LORETTE: IS THERE A BACKSTORY YOU CREATED FOR THE MASTER OUTSIDE OF THE SCRIPT?

BONNIE: Well the script has got a pretty good story there that you can build off of. That is some script. That is an incredible script. Um, so there was a lot to, that could you know, went on in my brain, you know, of you know where the master is.

And all the things she’s been through and where she’s gotten, and what she cares and doesn’t care about. Who she picks and who she doesn’t. And how she goes about things, and you know. And how I portrayed was very well worked on.

LORETTE: THIS REMINDS ME OF THE SANTA CLARITA DIET.

BONNIE: The movie is so uplifting. The movie is so–it gives you a very exhilerated feeling. And, you know it’s an uplifting– it makes your spirits rise.

LORETTE: IT’S KIND OF FEMINISTIC TOO, BECAUSE IT’S LIKE YOU’RE TAKING CHARGE OF YOUR LIFE.

BONNIE: Absolutely and I think that, that is needed right now. It has a very strong message. A really strong message. And I don’t think anybody who sees it–they’re gonna’ leave with a bit of that message.

Even if they try and fight it, they’re gonna’ leave with a bit of that message.
