World Beyond teaser trailer & characters (EXCLUSIVE)
August 26, 2021World Beyond is such a multi-faceted show. As a viewer, I’m very observant. I always try to dissect each scene, each character. And if you pay attention long enough and stick with it, you will see how beautiful these characters are.
SIMPLE BEGINNINGS.
World Beyond has had a rocky start all the way back to 2020. Covid Delays. Despite immense advertising (Time Square billboards, posters in the subways, etc. As well as commercials after Fear: The Walking Dead & The original show.), the subject is not well-known. There have been many times where I have asked others if they had seen it. Some had never even heard of it.
The unfortunate problem with such a big franchise is that a few fans are not as accepting of the spin-offs. This is a huge bummer as Fear has done so well. But now, after harassing all of my friends to watch this, I can successfully say all of it has paid off.
You still have some that do not care for it, call it a show about teenagers who just don’t know how to kill the zombies (empties.). But you also might not be paying close enough attention to the details either.
SO START PAYING ATTENTION.
Though your main characters are Jennifer “Huck” Mallick (Annet Mahendru) (Sidenote: Julia Ormond would like you to start calling her Jennifer!), and Hope Bennett (Alexa Mansour), it is essentially an ensemble piece full of many different faces and storylines.
DIVERSE CAST OF CHARACTERS AND REPRESENTATION.
One of the best parts of World Beyond is having so many actors of color and also portraying a quite frankly, adorable romance between Felix Carlucci (Nico Tortorella) & Will Campbell (Jelani Alladin)
(we both have a mutual friend that I have performed with before! Shoutout to Jelani & Mike!)
THE SWEET BABIES FELIX AND WILL.
Their relationship is truthful and it is not at all forced. It’s honest. Passionate. These two really care about each other and have to overcome everyday couple obstacles, as well as the end of the world. Sidenote: Felix, just let the guy make you a cup of coffee, dude.
Not to mention, this show was nominated for an Emmy, but like all popular horror/drama shows, it was snubbed. I said from the get-go Mahrendu should have gotten one from Episode 7 (Truth or Dare) alone.
THEY’RE ON A HORSE, YA’LL. IT’S GOIN’ FAST YA’LL.
Also, one more thing, Elton Ortiz (Nicolas Cantu) and Percy Delmado (Ted Sutherland) are on a HORSE.
NICOLAS CANTU ON A PAST LORETTE INTERVIEW:
ELTON AND PERCY, ON THE ROAD.
“When you leave us on season one, we are just going across that path. And we have that conversation about that we’re not the final generation, we’re the beginning.”
In that moment Elton is trying to boost the morale and say: “We gotta’ help! We gotta’ fix something!” NICOLAS CANTU on ELTON’S JOURNEY.
For those new to World Beyond, it’s a story of a mother and daughter Elizabeth Kublek (Ormond), Jennifer “Huck” Mallick (Mahendru) who are part of a secret organization known as the Civic Republic Military. Jenny has been undercover for two years straight in a place called the Campus Colony (which the CRM has bombed because of a rather honest speech, amongst other things.) but has one flaw–she actually cares about the people there.
Her mother on the other hand just needs the Bennett sisters. But when Iris Bennett (Aliyah Royale) becomes a little too honest, it’s down to one. The rest are expendable.
The mission was to get Hope Bennett back to her scientist genius of a father to help him further his research to look for a cure to the virus. But things are not all as they seem, their own staff is being experimented on. Manipulation and lies are at every corner. Such as poor Dr. Samuel Abbott (my buddy S.J. Ovaska) who Lyla lied and said he was visiting his sister. Instead, he is actually a Project A. Whether he was bit outside or purposely infected for testing purposes is unknown quite yet.
While there were some casualties, ultimately Jenny decided to follow her heart. As we have seen in the past with her Marine’s unit, and the love of her life (Drake), she is willing to do whatever she can to make sure lives are saved, often having to improvise heavily.
Five miles north she sent Felix and Iris. According to Mahendru in an interview, she just might have sent Will there as well. In our last first look at Comic-Con, Will says that he found a group of hunters that he helps in return for shelter and silence. This is exactly where she sent them.
Now the question is, will Mallick destroy the CRM? Or lead it with a pure heart with Hope’s help? Two options, but either one ends in war. We have seen Elizabeth cry when she had to hand over Barca to HQ, and she cares dearly for her daughter. So is it possible for her to switch sides as well?
LIZ & JENNIFER FROM PAST LORETTE INTERVIEW:
“She hasn’t spent much time–her mom is so successful, she’s been all around the world. Jenny has been with her uncle in Queens (New York), growing up with friends really and then joining the forces. And carving her own way in the footsteps of her parents, there were issues there. She’s rebelling against their ways and how they go about things.
And that’s good for her! All kids do that. Our whole life we do want closure and we want an understanding of why they did the things they did and she will. She will get some of those things answered once she’s back home. At the CRM.
What a home to grow up in!” – Annet Mahendru on Jennifer Mallick and Elizabeth Kublek.
WHAT ABOUT SILAS?
Looks like he has been taken to the CRM. We last saw him he sacrificed himself for Elton and Percy and even cut his hand to make it look like he had been the one bleeding and not Percy’s shoulder. Where he has gone now is a mystery, but it’s probably a decent place full of other kids.
AND THE THREE-MINUTE FULL TRAILER?
Matt Negrete (showrunner) said recently on his Twitter feed that it is currently in post-production and will be with us soon!
