HESITANCY WITH COMEDIC CASTING.

Tales Of The Walking Dead had me extremely skeptical for a long time. With its cast of many comedians, it was very hard to pinpoint just how they would do in dramatic projects. But as we have seen time and time again, actors can surprise you. Often you are typecast for a specific genre or stereotype.

An example is Aubrey Plaza (which ironically ‘Tales’ Parker Posey also made an appearance in Plaza’s Parks and Recreation), but then you see the other side of them in horror and dramatic projects.

We know Jillian Bell from 22 Jump Street and Workaholics. We know Terry Crews from ‘Everybody Hates Chris’, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and the Old Spice commercials, respectively.

And while they are very comedic and downright hilarious, there are other layers in a few indie films, as well as dramatic pieces that viewers that aren’t diehard fans, fail to take notice of.

Tales Of The Walking Dead was announced today with an August 14th release at 9 PM, effectively taking over the original The Walking Dead‘s timeslot until its reappearance on AMC/AMC+ in October.

The first two episodes will stream as well to those who have a subscription to AMC+, while subsequent episodes will stream one week early, with a September 21st date.

NEW AND FAMILIAR CHARACTERS.

The series consists of six original standalone episodes, that come time out to one hour.

With an earlier announcement of Alpha’s (Samantha Morton) return, we will be meeting new as well as revisiting familiar characters in our little zombie-filled world.

If anything, this is a reminder of the past online-only episodes, as well as the little shorts (Flight, Red Machete, The Althea Diaries) that we have seen over time.

Could this even overlap with the other spin-offs? As we did see characters from Flight mix into Fear, so it’s very possible.

Tales is another great ensemble piece that we should look forward to. The following creatives are attached to the project.
