Maeve stays 5 steps ahead in Mobland episode 6 causing another major character death
May 4, 2025Mobland has as much firepower as ever thanks to the real person in charge, Maeve Harrigan(Helen Mirren). In “Antwerp Blues” it’s not surprising to see Maeve micromanage all of the little pawns around her. The episode starts where it left off after the brutal murder of Vron Stevenson(Annie Cooper). The family is summoned to the Cotswolds for protection. Of course, tensions will be at an all-time high, but what starts off as a very serious situation quickly turns to pure comedy thanks to the Harrigan crime family. Spoilers Ahead.
CONRAD THE DREAD 100 F**KING GUNS HARRIGAN
At the end of episode 5, we saw Maeve make a call to Paul(Emmet J Scanlan) to finish Vron and her big mouth off. Going into the episode I fully expected Maeve to take the wrap with pride. However, Conrad(Pierce Brosnan) admits it was he who ordered the infamous hit. Now did the mob boss have a conversation with his wife first? Or is he simply guarding her from Richie(Geoff Bell)?

It was all thanks to Harry’s(Tom Hardy) work in getting weaponry insurance in the home during the funeral of Richie Stevenson’s son. Bombing the car was always meant to be plan b. Conrad was willing to have peace between families until Richie took it a step too far. The rivalry between them escalated when he got too bold and insulted Conrad multiple times in the confines of his home. He knew the Harrigans couldn’t react in enemy territory, but boy was he wrong. And now the man is left without a wife and a son for it.
POKING THE PISSED-OFF BEAR
Regardless of how we got to this predicament, it was hilarious to see the Harrigans working together for the greater good when Freddie Shaw(Bradley Turner) phoned the family to speak to Richie.

“How’s your morning? Must have had a hell of a time putting the pieces of Vron back together.” Conrad confidently states. Even Eddie(Anson Boon) gets into the action by confessing it was him who did his son Tommy in, and he squealed like a pig before his body was chopped into pieces. A surefire way to set the bull on fire. Conrad doesn’t seem phased at all no matter how much Richie huffs and snarls.
BRING MY BABIES BACK TO ME
Despite the arrogance Maeve and Conrad may carry Brendan and Seraphina are in trouble. Conrad knows he can’t protect his other two children when they’re out in the open in Antwerp to purchase the uncut gems from Mozambique. The patriarch sends for Harry to bring them home. The fixer is on the case again, but it’s Maeve who nearly blows up the entire operation.
THIS IS MAEVE HARRIGAN’S GAME AND THE REST ARE MERELY PLAYERS
I never know exactly how to take Maeve, all I know is I adore her, lunatic and all. She can’t stand Seraphina(Mandeep Dhillon), which I understand. She is the product of one of Conrad’s many many affairs. I would love to know more about Maeve’s backstory and how she came to have the extreme power she holds. However, I do think the mystery of that fact is what keeps fans holding on.

THE QUEENS GAMBIT
However deep her connections lie it runs straight through Richie Stevenson. Currently, she’s still trying to remain friends with Richie so long as he doesn’t harm her child. Maeve and Richie go way back, and he knows better than to double-cross her. Or does he?
By now Richie has lost everyone he loves, and it takes no genius to see Maeve is the one pulling all the strings. She puts way too much hope in their alliance and divulges where Seraphina and Brendan(Daniel Betts) are in Antwerp. Of course, it’s in the hopes of finally getting rid of Seraphina. It’s a move that costs her dearly.
“If I had to choose who to lose in a war, it would be those two liabilities.”-Maeve Harrigan(Helen Mirren)
Maeve is as ruthless as they come. Deep down she knows he may not spare Brendan’s life. But as the Queen she has to play the long game. She’s prepared to sacrifice her oldest son for the bigger win.
CONRAD NEVER HAS GOOD INTENTIONS
Conrad comes off as a predator around any woman. I don’t know if he thinks he’s God’s gift to women but the creep factor is way off the charts. He still has a strong hold on his son’s wife Bella(Lara Pulver), and then gets a little too close to Gina(Teddie Allen)on the steps of the Cotswolds. Conrad tries to take advantage of the fact she’s on the outs with her father and wants to protect her. I don’t think Gina knows what that kind of protection entails. Thankfully she runs away from the maniac thanks to Mama Bear Jan’s(Joanne Froggatt) thoughtful timing.
ARE BELLA AND JAN FRIENDS OF FOES?
This is one dynamic I don’t understand. Each of these women hates being under the same roof as Conrad. Bella lets Jan in on the secret that she gets through it with pills and wine. They come off as civil to each other, almost friendly. However, we know Bella has a thing for her husband. What we don’t know is whether have they had an affair. And what does Jan know about the duo’s relationship?

It is evident that Harry cares about Bella. He doesn’t like her working with Antoine or anyone that would bring her danger. I think she does these acts to get Harry’s attention. But his heart belongs to Jan. That still doesn’t stop Bella from calling her husband sexy when he takes off in the chopper(in the company of his wife no less) to find Brendan and Seraphina. A bold move that shows the difference between the two women. Jan does not find this lifestyle sexy at all.
THE REAL ANTWERP BLUES
Seraphina has been on the edge with Brendan’s plan to acquire the large uncut rubies since the beginning. She is taking a colossal risk dealing with a seller she’d never heard of. Brendan doesn’t exactly have the best business track record. One thing is for sure, these two are the outcasts of the family. Brendan for making one mistake after another, and Seraphina for being the unwanted bastard child.
Unlike Brendan, Seraphina has done well for herself. Whereas screwup Brendan leaned on her weakness and used it as an opportunity to flip the script. Come out as heroes, so they could finally be accepted.

Even with all of Seraphina’s reservations, she continues with the plan. Harry touches down in Antwerp but the two have already left the hotel and are headed to a secret location for the ruby exchange. It astonishingly goes off without a hitch until the Mexican squad Richie hired shows up. Bullets go flying and it’s plain to see why Brendan was not made for this life. Especially when he pisses himself in fear. Seraphina is undoubtedly scared but handles herself well.
What was once supposed to be an awakening for the siblings turns out to be their greatest nightmare.
What we have learned.
- Gina is still entirely pissed at her father for jerking her out of her psychology exam. Nor does she feel protected by him.
- Kevin is losing touch with his father, but he’s finally standing up to the man.
- Conrad gave the order to kill Vron, or did he?
- Maeve and Richie have had an intimate relationship in the past.
- Conrad wants a meeting with the Mexicans to get in on the Fentanyl game. The only question is will Richie Stevenson be able to block the move?
- Brendan and Seraphina have now been kidnapped in Antwerp. It’s up to Harry to get to them in time.
- Conrad seems to have control of every woman in his orbit except for Maeve.
- Maeve may have very well issued her son’s death ticket by giving Richie the location of Seraphina and Brendan.
- Richie already has a strong in with the Mexicans because he’s in the fentanyl game already. The same men who are after Conrad’s children. There are chess pieces all over the board.
- Brendan ignored Harry’s calls so he wouldn’t ruin the ruby deal, but Seraphina dropped him a pin to the location. He’s not far behind them.
