From Season 3 Episode 10 Review: Revelations, Chapter Two
November 24, 2024The season 3 finale of From has come and gone and we leave with a lot of answered questions and thrilling revelations. Hence the title.
The MVP of this episode is Sara Myers. She is a woman who knows how to get things done. Ellis lets Boyd in on the fact that he has suspicions about Elgin knowing where Fatima could be. Now if Elgin wanted to keep this all a secret in the hopes that they would get home, it wasn’t the brightest idea to tell Ellis she could be out there helping them. Still, Elgin stuck to his guns and would not give in to Boyd even through his torturous beating.
Fortunately for Boyd and Ellis, Sara knew exactly what to do after being summoned. She knows precisely what it’s like to be a puppet for the monsters and thought she could connect to Elgin in that way. When she realized that wouldn’t work she became a boss of no mercy.
Acosta was of course there to stand firmly against this cruel and unusual punishment. Were there other tactics that could have been used? Surely, but time was of the essence. Sara stood on business and showed us why she’s one of the most valuable members of Fromville. In the end, she turned Elgin into a bloody mess and gouged his eye out but she got the answers needed to Fatima’s whereabouts.
You can’t turn your back on soulmates
After a fall Tabitha explains to Jim that she could feel the presence of Miranda within herself the moment she touched Victor. Jim isn’t too thrilled with that revelation but proceeds to go see Jade. He’s not sure how he can protect his family but believes Jade may be the key to doing what he can’t. I will say it is more character growth for Jim. He’s realizing that he can’t protect his family on his own and is willing to go through whatever doors he has to.
Jim even figures out that the numbers in the bottles are attached to musical notes. He wasn’t fully aware he figured it out, but Jade put two and two together. It was nice to see Jim not entirely useless for a change.
Jade is so over the Anghookey kids and doesn’t know why everything has to be so cryptic. He wants to help, but all these riddles and coded information are driving him mad. As it does to the audience too, I think. Once one thing gets revealed it feels like another book is opened to more mystery. 10 steps forward. 20 steps back.
Music to our ears
With a little help from Jim, Jade figured out the melody and traveled to the Faraway Tree with the violin. As he starts to play low and behold the children show up captivated by the melody he is playing. Both Tabitha and Jade remember who they are. Who they were. Which is now the same.
A child appears and moves closer to Tabitha and Jade telling them to remember. And they do. Jade remembers trying to save the children because one of them was their child. The two have them have returned many lives over to get it to right. To save the children so they can save their own. That’s why there was more than one bracelet.
The acting between David Alpay and Catalina Moreno was outstanding. Such shattering emotion toppled with loving heartbreak.
For those of you who truly believed that Tabitha was a reincarnation of Eloise, we can put all that to rest now. Tabitha is the reincarnation of Miranda and Jade is the reincarnation of Christopher. There were still plenty of Miranda and Tabitha theories so it didn’t come as a huge shock to me. I think Jade being Christopher was a little harder to guess but when the chemistry between Tabitha and Jade kept growing you could feel it just beneath the surface.
I thought you’d want to see
Victor takes Henry to the spot where he buried his mom. Covered by a beautiful rock with a rainbow painted on it. It overwhelms the old man, but I do wonder what kind of marriage Henry had with his wife. He’s not her soulmate.
Henry notices the grave beside Miranda’s and asks if that’s Eloise. Victor thinks so, but she was so small and in pieces so she was hard to identify. It just breaks Henry in two to hear this information. Imagine giving birth to a child and having them end up this way.
Victor still blames himself for their deaths and makes it no secret to his father. And much like Tabitha told him before, he was just a child. Miranda was doing nothing more than trying to protect him because she loved him. These father and son moments tear at your heartstrings. And the acting of Scott McCord is out of this world. He knocked this episode out of the park. When Victor said “You don’t have to be my dad anymore,” my heart just broke for this character.
The biggest reveal of all
The birth of Fatima’s “baby.” All the fan theories throughout the last few weeks have been interesting on this. Most of us predicted it was some kind of evil entity. Well congratulations Fatima, it’s a boy and a smiley one.
How did Fatima give birth to Smiley and why?
Smiley is most likely one of the original villagers who sacrificed his children for immortality. For Boyd, by “killing” Smiley he provoked the demons and Smiley was able to come back to life by breaking Fatima to break Ellis, which in turn breaks Boyd. And until the children are freed this will likely keep happening.
Ellis and Kenny take Fatima back to the Colony house while Boyd watches the rebirth of Smiley. It was a perfect horror moment as Boyd had the same look of disgust watching it that I did.
Julie, where art thou?
I wasn’t entirely sure about Julie’s purpose in this finale. She seems to be able to go back and forth in space-time. Maybe it’s something she too, has to figure out. Just another key to being able to crawl their way out of catastrophe. Season 4 holds so many exciting possibilities and expectations. The show has been green-lit for the next season and we couldn’t be more elated here at Lorette.
Julie appears to be time-traveling again. She knows this is her father’s death and is trying to change the story as she runs to him. Begging him to get back to town. But it’s too late. The man in the yellow suit tells Jim that knowledge comes at a cost. Ever since Tabitha dug that hole they got too close to the secrets. In one swift second his throat is ripped out and the finale ends with blood pouring out of his neck.
Farewell..I can’t say you’ll be too missed
It was a gruesome death but one I was honestly looking forward to. Even with Jim’s growth throughout this episode, he was physically rough with Tabitha and Julie. Sure emotions were heightened but I don’t like the way he handled them on top of every other annoying thing he’s done in the past.
All in all, it was an amazing ending to another amazing season of From. Now we have Julie, the time traveler. Will she be able to change future events? Maybe. It could save a lot of lives so they can continue fighting to get back home. Jade and Tabitha have their memories back. Many other secrets could unfold.
From is undoubtedly one of the shows to watch. It is such a talented cast led by Harold Perrineau, Hannah Cheramy, Avery Konrad, David Alpay, Scott McCord, and Catalina Moreno. But from the top to bottom, it’s a cast immersed in talent, phenomenal acting, and great stories. See you next season Fromily.
